Clip description
This clip summarises the advised methods used to remove rabbits from farming land. Farmer Heck Bradley’s neighbour’s paddock is shown three months after a successful eradication campaign. Bradley and his neighbours decide to undertake a similar project on their adjoining properties. The rest of the clip shows highlights from this campaign, outlining each step.
Curator’s notes
This clip is from the final minutes of the film and clearly summarises each of the steps in rabbit eradication demonstrated throughout the film. The character of farmer Heck Bradley, who appears in the opening scenes, is reintroduced in this clip as a vehicle to connect audiences with the subject matter. When Heck Bradley becomes convinced that ‘rabbit eradication pays’, the audience will hopefully also be persuaded. After the checking of fences and gates, poisoning, clearing top cover, dogging, fumigation, ripping and harrowing, and finally sewing down to pasture, the clip ends with a graphic which urges the audience to ‘Attack the Rabbit NOW!’.
