Clip description
This clip is taken from the last few minutes of the film. Habiba is a victim of a landmine in Afghanistan who now has an artificial leg as a result. She speaks movingly about her wish for an end to the war, for a time of peace with no more landmines. As the film draws to a conclusion, a group of young Muslim women walk past the camera, leaving a classroom where they have just attended a lesson on the dangers of landmines. The film ends with a series of white on black title cards with information about landmine usage in the world.
Curator’s notes
This is a moving and powerful end to the film. Music is used very effectively over the poignant shot of the healthy but vulnerable young women walking past the camera, and the cards at the end make the director’s point with stark clarity.
