Clip description

Feminist and concert pianist Hephzibah Menuhin establishes the Centre for Social Studies in Bethnal Green, London with her second husband, Richard Hauser.

Curator’s notes

Filmmaker Curtis Levy contrasts Hephzibah’s good intentions with the reality of having a drop-in centre in her home. In Hephzibah’s letters she says of her sons ‘I do so want to see them, at least on paper.’
