Clip description
Joy Hester (1920-1960) was an artist who drew passionately. Her upbringing by a cold and domineering mother, and a father who died when Joy was twelve, formed her outlook on life. Contemporaries commenting on her life and work include writer Michael Keon, biographer Janine Burke, friend Joy Murphy, and her first husband, painter Albert Tucker.
Curator’s notes
Director and writer Claire Jager has successfully encapsulated the essence of a beautiful and outspoken woman. Passion for life and her art made Hester a remarkable artist.
