Defining boundaries

This clip chosen to be G

Clip description

Speaking to camera, Lorraine Mafi-Williams introduces us to Mrs Millie Boyd, the custodian of three major tribal boundaries in the far north coast of NSW. The Bundjalung (around Lismore), Githabul (Kyogle to Woodenbong), across inland over to the coast to Tweed Heads and Byron Bay area which is Ngarabul. Mrs Boyd wanted the documentary made to clarify tribal boundaries. The story about Leo and Leva tells us that the two areas of the Githabul and Ngarabul were joined by the marriage of Leo and Leva.

Curator’s notes

The introduction to this Dreaming story is presented like a yarn at the feet of an elder, and we willingly go along for the journey, suspending questions and beliefs.
