Anmatjere elders Patsy and Jane Briscoe narrate the story of the demon Bungalung while two boys act it out. A boy uses traditional weapons to fight and defeat the demon Bungalung.
Curator’s notes
This clip shows the use of the camera and actor to re-enact a Dreamtime story as told by the elders. It shows Aboriginal people actively telling their story in their own language for the maintenance of their cultural heritage into the future. This use of non-Aboriginal technology to record traditional Aboriginal stories demonstrates the durability and adaptability of Aboriginal forms of storytelling.
