Clip description

In re-enactment, Father Dixon speaks to a couple that saw Max Stuart at a carnival at the time of the murder, providing an alibi. Over historical footage of Westminster, we hear that a plea to stay the execution of Stuart was rejected by Privy Council, unable to accept that police evidence was corrupt. Historical footage shows young Labor backbencher Don Dunstan who got involved in the case at this point. He successfully secured a suspension of the execution while the case was investigated. In re-enactment Max Stuart in his cell, looks at photos of himself on the front pages of the censored prison newspapers.
