Clip description
The small inland township of Oodnadatta in South Australia is on the AIM patrolling route. This clip includes people on camels, local buildings such as the AIM nursing hostel, and AIM staff who prepare to depart Oodnadatta for Alice Springs for the rest of their journey. Outside the hostel, their AIM colleagues farewell the convoy as it heads off.
Curator’s notes
The AIM nursing hostel at Oodnadatta, first established in 1912 by the Reverend John Flynn, features in many of the AIM patrolling mission films (see clip one of John Kingsford Smith’s 1949 documentary The Inlanders).
