Clip description
This clip from a silent black-and-white cinema advertisement from about 1927 for Castlecrag Estate, a new suburb overlooking Sydney’s Middle Harbour, shows panoramic shots of the surrounding scenery, a woman with a dog looking out to the harbour and newly built stone houses. It also shows the suspension bridge that shortened the drive into the city.
Curator’s notes
The clip uses intertitles to not only link the various scenes but to describe how 'on the heights’ a 'model suburb is springing up’.
