Clip description
This is an Australia Post television commercial (TVC) promoting Intelpost, the international electronic postal service.
Curator’s notes
This commercial was aired in 1987, three years after Australia Post introduced Intelpost. At the time prohibitive costs still prevented not only individuals, but many businesses, owning and operating fax machines. The fax machine’s new digital capabilities were seen as ideal for transmitting diagrams, images and non-Western typescripts – forms which had not lent themselves to telex and teletype transmission. This humorous TVC shows a series of instruction diagrams being delivered by Australia Post to a group of ancient would-be soccer players. It was produced for Australia Post by Mojo MDA (Monahan Dayman Adams had recently merged with Mojo) and Sherwood Carlton, and on-lined on 29 August 1987.
