Sue Maslin blurs the boundaries

In our latest filmmaker interview, Ray Argall speaks to screen producer Sue Maslin about her long and varied career in both documentaries and features.

I think the idea of playing with fiction and non-fiction forms is something I’ve been fascinated with for a long, long time … using fiction techniques in films like Hunt Angels (2006) in order to understand actual events. And then conversely using non-fiction techniques in the feature films to get authenticity in the small moments as well as the grand gestures.

The theme also plays out in Sue’s latest work, which explores our ongoing fascination with fairytales. Re-enchantment is an interactive cross-media project that is now online and begins screening on ABC1 this week.

You can watch the interview with Sue here. The interview is accompanied by a stills gallery and a comprehensive screenography.
