This is the opening sequence, introducing the real-world characters Mary Jane and Stanley Staines and their crazy, imaginative mutant friends and monster foes from the drain – a perilous and fascinating world that they enter through a portal in the basement sink.
Curator’s notes
This funky, energetic theme song perfectly captures the tone of the series, a mixture of yuck, scary, exciting for primary-aged children. The overall concept of a world in the drains below makes for a compelling story set-up. The drain characters are hilarious and very unusual. I particularly like the concept of Herc the furball who is occasionally coughed up by the one-eyed, purple, shapeless blob Blobbert.
