These early moments in Shark Vs Croc clearly mark out its territory, with a homage to Jaws (1975) and a segue from Cropp’s account of his own close encounter into coverage of the same event on tabloid current affairs program Today Tonight.
Shark Vs Croc aired in Channel Seven’s long-running World Around Us documentary timeslot and excerpts from Seven News and Today Tonight make up a significant portion of the program’s content, alongside Cropp’s shark and croc-spotting footage. Interestingly, Cropp himself pops up in many of these news and current affairs reports to provide expert commentary.
