Clip description

A mystery man (Curt Jansen) arrives at the delicatessen looking for Herb Evans (Ron Shand). Arnold Feather (Jeff Kevin) sends him upstairs where the residents of Flat 3 are enjoying their evening meal. Dorrie Evans (Pat McDonald) is scheming to get friend and flatmate Flo Patterson (Bunney Brooke) married off to train enthusiast Arthur Partridge (Gordon Glenwright), but when there is a knock at the front door, the Evans’s lives are turned upside down.

Curator’s notes

The three clips selected from this episode are the final three scenes of the 1975 season finale.

The resolution to this particular drama is that the mystery man, who is later named as Junior Winthrop, moves into Flat 3 and becomes a series regular. Much comedy is mined from his ‘family fortune’ and he eventually leaves the series (some would say not a moment too soon) after a grotesque wedding out the back of the building on the Sunshine Patio.
