A wide range of characters appeared on the show, some of whom came back for more. Part of the show’s appeal lies in meeting the diverse people from all over Australia who aspire to stardom. The calibre of the contestants on the show varied greatly and so it was up to sympathetic and congenial host Bert Newton to maintain the right mix of honesty and empathy.
Notable Australians who launched their career on New Faces include Paul Hogan and Olivia Newton-John, who made her TV debut on Kevin Dennis Auditions.
