The art of the interview

Original classification rating: PG. This clip chosen to be PG

Clip description

With over 20 years experience presenting for television, Melvyn Bragg obviously loves what he does. In a relaxed interview with Andrea Stretton, he recounts some of the more memorable moments, including an interview with an almost blind and quite deaf 96-year-old Barbara Cartland, the queen of pulp romance novels.

Curator’s notes

Melvyn Bragg is funny, irreverent and the source of a never-ending stream of great stories about the people he’s interviewed and the places he’s been. Andrea Stretton keeps the performance coming with well placed questions that shape and widen the conversation to encompass his life, his politics and his art.
