Clip description

Dave and his wife Patsy run the buffalo farm in the Aboriginal lands of Kakadu. These days the buffalo must be controlled so they don’t completely destroy the natural habitat of the wetlands. The couple supply local Aboriginals with buffalo meat and Patsy cooks it in the traditional way, on an open fire.

Curator’s notes

Dave is a former buffalo hunter now turned custodian of the fragile ecosystem of wetlands in Kakadu. It’s fascinating to see bush people willing to learn from the local Aboriginal people about the importance of preserving the local environment and using Aboriginal cooking techniques.
