While living in Adelaide and homesick for Broome, the Pigram brothers wrote a famous song celebrating their mother’s wonderful fish soup and rice. Home again, we see the whole family working together to catch their fish and clean it, then under the supervision of their mum, cook the soup on the beach.
Curator’s notes
I’ve always loved that catchy song but had no idea there was such a lovely back-story to the lyrics. What a delight to see a large family enjoy doing what they grew up doing out of sheer necessity.
