Dig A Million, Make A Million (1968)


Australia’s richest iron ore deposit has been found by Lang Hancock and his partner, Peter Wright. The mining company Hamersley Iron is developing a huge mining infrastructure in Western Australia.

Curator’s notes

This remarkable documentary was written, produced and directed by the great Australian filmmaker Tom Haydon, who died in 1991. Tom Haydon honed his craft while working for the BBC in the United Kingdom. His work includes The Last Tasmanian, made in 1978, and The Talgai Skull (1968). Both screened on the ABC. Dig a Million, Make a Million won him the silver AFI award for 1969.
