Clip description
This four-minute film, seen here in full, was made to create awareness of the free chest x-ray service provided by the Health Department of NSW to diagnose tuberculosis.
Curator’s notes
This infectious ghost of Australia’s past, tuberculosis (TB), presented a constant threat to the people of NSW. This health awareness film presents information on the disease including how it’s contracted, diagnosed and treated. The film calls on all NSW citizens to undertake a free chest x-ray to identify any symptoms. TB no longer presents the same threat today as it did in the 1940s and this community service announcement would have played its part in spreading the message and supporting the awareness necessary to control the disease in NSW.
