Clip description
Excavation of the open cut and construction of the Murray 2 Power Station in the Snowy Mountains Scheme, are detailed.
Curator’s notes
The Murray 2 Power Station, in the Snowy-Murray Development of the Snowy Mountains Scheme, was completed in 1969. The clip shows the excavation of the open cut for the location of the power station, and the construction of the power station itself. The remote location of construction zones on the scheme meant long distance transportation of a great deal of heavy plant and equipment by rail and road. The clip includes footage of the mighty ANTAR road train, used extensively by the scheme, arriving at the building site.
