Clip description
This footage, shot between 1965 and 1967, details the final steps that were involved in the construction of Geehi Dam and the testing of the regulating valve.
Curator’s notes
Earlier laboratory testing had revealed a design problem at the intake mouth of the glory hole spillway. The specially designed concrete walls beneath the spillway lip, constructed as a result, are clearly pictured. The clip also includes the spectacular testing of the regulating valve at the foot of the dam, in May 1967.
