In this silent short film, seen here in full, a young man (John Straford) falls asleep at work. During a nightmare, his ladder attacks.
Curator’s notes
This is the first foray by John and Frank Straford into amateur filmmaking. In-camera stop-motion animation creates the effect of the walking ladder.
The original film was transferred to DVD, as part of a compilation of Straford family films, before it was deposited in the National Film and Sound Archive. This clip was taken from the compilation and is presented as it appears on the DVD.
