Clip description

In this silent clip, a man (Frank Straford) is playing the piano in his living room when a string breaks. He makes a telephone call and a piano tuner (John Straford) arrives and then inspects the broken string with a look of bemusement. The tuner takes a new string from his bag but fails to install it properly. Fed up, the owner proceeds to take the instrument apart while the piano tuner sits back on the couch and relaxes, smoking his pipe.

Curator’s notes

The original film was transferred to DVD, as part of a compilation of Straford family films, before it was deposited in the National Film and Sound Archive. This clip was taken from the compilation and is presented as it appears on the DVD.
