Clip description

A man returns home to his family and hides a mirror in a drawer. Family life is disrupted when his relatives find it and mistake their reflections for those of others.

Curator’s notes

The quiet beauty, serenity and affectionate treatment of her characters – typical of Danta’s work – are evident here in the way in which the animator depicts the family’s interactions and their confusion over the mirror. The simplicity of the villagers’ lives is conveyed by the spare detail of their home’s interior and their domestic activities. The digital simulation of traditional puppet animation is in keeping with this ancient Korean folktale.
