Preparing for battle

Original classification rating: PG. This clip chosen to be PG

Clip description

Sharpeye (Ikaika Fa’aoso) alerts the island to the presence of a Special Forces dinghy and the islanders gear up for invasion. The men of the island have transformed into soldiers and are hatching a battle plan as Sharpeye rides his bike by the water.

Curator’s notes

Writer-director Aaron Fa’aoso based the story on an Army exercise in the early 1990s when the local Charlie Company reservists outwitted an elite SAS unit with the help of the community, including the local radio station. The female voice at the start of the clip is that of the BRACS radio announcer (Helen Anu) lending her support to the islanders.
