Following their collision with the airship Hieronymous and their discovery of the skeletons of its crew, Dr Claude Belgon (Helmut Bakaitis) convinces Captain Griswald (Tommy Dysart) to continue their voyage to the island.
Curator’s notes
The sense of mystery and impending terror deepens with the discovery of the skeletons of the Hieronymous crew. Claude’s ambitious and manipulative nature is demonstrated when he persuades the Captain to continue their journey by promising that he will be rewarded by the Academy should they discover new species on the island. Once again, Jasper Morello’s career hangs in the balance as he must now navigate without a compass. The fact that it is he who must bear the ultimate responsibility for the outcome of the voyage is suggested by the framing of Jasper’s silhouette by the geographical chart behind him.
