The narrator (Clare Larman) recalls the time her father befriended a dog that was blind in one eye. She also talks about mementos of her father that she has retained.
Curator’s notes
Early forms of animation are depicted in objects that the narrator’s father liked – a zoetrope and a simple puzzle with a Mickey Mouse figure. These provide the narrator’s few childhood memories of her father. His stopped watch serves as a metaphor for his death and leads her to question the nature of time and its effects, also suggesting that, in a sense, time stopped for her when he died.
