Clip description
Amos (Trevor Jamieson) shows his wares at the local pub. A couple of local miners (Geoffrey Foulkes-Taylor and Jed Elsbury) offer him a small amount of money for a nugget of 'gold’ weighing six ounces, to the disgust of a tourist (Alan Dungey) who shows a lot more than fleeting interest.
Curator’s notes
Who’s conning who? The tourist thinks Amos is being cheated out of his fair reward by the miners, when they are in fact in on the joke: helping Amos sell worthless, gold-painted rocks to unsuspecting tourists.
