Father and son visit the reserve

This clip chosen to be PG

Clip description

The father (Andrew McFarlane) drives the son (Clarence John Ryan) down to the reserve in Bourke. They stay in the car and look out the window at the people and place.

Curator’s notes

This scene suggests both the disadvantages of poverty and the advantages of family, community and culture. We get a sense of what the son, Russell, might have missed as a result of his adoption when he looks longingly at a woman walking by the road. He must be wondering about the mother who is no longer present in his life.
