Clip description
This clip from a colour home movie filmed by Ernest Gourlay Morris in 1951 shows some of the female competitors on a boat on the Murray River and on stage competing for the Queen of the Murray beauty contest at Waikerie, South Australia. The clip includes Miss Albury, Miss Berri and Miss Kerang modelling swimwear. They pose for the camera and the winner is awarded a trophy and makes a speech.

This clip captures the Queen of the Murray beauty contest from a period when beauty pageants were gaining popularity.
Thanks to the generosity of the rights holders, we are able to offer Queen of the Murray 1951 from the home movie Morris, DG: Royal Agricultural Show, Adelaide as a high quality video download.
