This clip from a home movie filmed by Australian Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies, in 1948 shows Sir Winston Churchill feeding swans, smoking a cigar and walking up to, and looking inside, a brick farmhouse.
Curator’s notes
This clip captures Sir Winston Churchill relaxing in the countryside. Rarely seen candid footage of Churchill is even more extraordinary as it is captured on 16mm colour film, a film format not used a lot at this time.
