Clip description

A Polynesian woman dressed in a red bikini top and long grass skirt gracefully demonstrates a hula dance for the camera which records it in slow-motion.

Curator’s notes

The subtle movements of hula dancing in this clip continue Winton’s interest in capturing movement over time. By running the camera at a speed faster than 18 frames per second, Winton creates the effect of slow-motion which accentuates the movements of the body and the flow of the grass skirt.
