Sorrento (c.1922)

The many attractions of the Victorian seaside town of Sorrento are promoted in this 1920s black-and-white footage produced for the Sorrento Progress Association. Sorrento’s beautiful beaches, bathing spots, and accommodation are a pleasant ferry ride south from Port Melbourne.

Curator’s notes

Produced for the Sorrento Progress Association, this footage was probably used to promote Sorrento as a popular tourist destination. It was produced by Amalgamated Pictures and originally screened at the Majestic Theatre in Melbourne.
