Clip description
Charlie (Vince Colosimo) has already privately complained about a crying woman who he reckons had only met Gavin twice. When she can’t stop crying he loses his temper and shouts at her.
Curator’s notes
The mood among the mourners has been remarkably sedate – they’ve all tried to suppress their feelings. This is the first time that someone is seen crying over Gavin’s death – a trigger for Charlie to let loose the anger and pain he’s been holding inside. The fact that someone who barely knew the deceased should seem so hysterically upset is part of the film’s rhetorical case about the unpredictability of the reactions displayed during grief.
