Curator’s notes

Third Person Plural uses non-linear editing to shuffle snapshots of the character’s lives. At the start of this sequence Mark and Danny are just getting to know each other. The second shot is a glimpse into their relationship weeks ahead of this moment. Subverting the traditional pattern of chronological plot movement invites audiences to consider the different ways in which stories can be told. Non-linear storytelling has become much more prevalent in mainstream cinema since the success of Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994).
