Clip description

Becker (Eric Roberts) asks Frank (Max Giilies) and Fred (Paul Chubb) why Coca-Cola is not sold in Anderson Valley. Terri (Greta Scacchi) says an independent soft-drink maker controls the market.

Curator’s notes

The laid–back manner of Coca-Cola’s Australian staff is very different from Becker’s aggressive business style. Pipe-smoking Frank and his nervous sidekick Fred (the excellent character actor Paul Chubb) don’t know or care much about Anderson Valley. They have a ‘live and let live’ attitude. Becker’s almost religious belief in Coca-Cola demands he target and conquer a place which, incredibly, does not sell Coke or its main rival, Pepsi.

Terri’s background in Anderson Valley creates intrigue. What else does she know, and to whom is she related in Anderson Valley? State-of-the-art at the time, the audiovisual presentation in this scene looks ancient by today’s standards.
