Malcolm (Colin Friels) shows Frank (John Hargreaves) his version of a getaway car, gleaned from watching television shows. Frank takes the opportunity to make an unofficial withdrawal at a bank, but is completely taken aback when Malcolm shows him what the car can do.
Curator’s notes
This is one of the film’s most inspired comic sequences, made even more enjoyable by the looks on the faces of the actors. Frank knows Malcolm has been busily working on an invention but he has no idea what it is, and no real idea until this scene of how much technical know-how Malcolm has. The split cars actually worked, and the wobbly progress of each part makes that clear.
