Clip description
Kevin (Paul Couzens) has offered Anne (Eva Dickinson) a lift home from the pub. Instead he picks up Bob (Carl Stever), some alcohol, and they head for the local lover’s lane. Anne has never met Bob and she fancies Kevin, but she kisses Bob anyway.
Curator’s notes
One of the film’s strengths is that it pulls no punches about the lives of its characters, and makes few outright judgements. Nor do we see the characters making their feelings known very often. Kevin’s annoyance at his mate kissing the girl he has picked up is just slightly suggested, in the final shot of the clip. Few films had put this kind of naturalistic acting on screen before, but in the mid-1970s, a lot of young people must have recognised aspects of themselves and their lives.
