Kevin (Paul Couzens) comes home briefly on his birthday, to change, slap on some Brut-33, eat a sandwich and get out the door. His father warns him to keep the P-plates on his car; his mother warns him not to drink too much. His sister wants to come to a party.
Curator’s notes
Gives a good sense of domestic life, with a tinge of comedy. The sense of a chasm between Kevin and the rest of his family is strong – but he is careful to maintain his veneer of manners. The look of concern from his mother tells us that she feels she’s losing him. This is his birthday, after all, and he’s barely home for three minutes.
