clip Bobby at home

Original classification rating: R. This clip chosen to be PG

Clip description

Bobby (Teo Gebert) is at ’home’ (an abandoned sofa and his own car, which he’s sleeping in) when a colleague (Dan Wyllie) drops by to check he’s OK. Bobby doesn’t like being reminded of his former professional life, nor of being seen in this destitute state – as he eventually makes clear.

Curator’s notes

This scene gives a clear idea of how far Bobby has fallen and shows his extreme discomfort at being reminded.

Like much of the film, the scene teeters on the knife edge between humour and desperation. When Bobby’s colleague badgers him for his opinion of a harebrained scheme to place advertising in the theatre using live actors, the effect is both funny and uncomfortable (Bobby’s face, seen in close-up, shows the viewers he’s seriously irritated and upset).
