Two women describe the hard physical work of the Women’s Land Army and express their pride in their achievements. Black-and-white stills and colour footage show the women at work.
Curator’s notes
This clip offers an example of the style the filmmakers used to tell the story. We get a sense of the time in history from an interview with one of the women in the Land Army and how she felt about it. This interview is bookended with a montage of stills and moving historical footage showing the work, giving us an idea of how willing and able the recruits were as they went about their arduous work. A song about the Women’s Land Army heard on the soundtrack captures the feeling of exuberance and determination.
