Super Flu: Race Against a Killer (2005)
Synopsis
The film reports on H5N1, the avian flu virus. It follows the scientific world’s attempt to defuse the flu and reports on the world’s preparedness for an airborne pandemic. The film contains dramatic recreations, rousing music, interviews with experts and archival footage from the Spanish Flu of 1918 that killed 50 million people.
Curator’s notes
Given the potential death rate should H5N1 become airborne, this documentary is compelling viewing. As well as the dramatic recreations, it includes a wealth of information, including clear explanations of scientific forecasts. Writer and director Stefan Moore’s credits include The Gamblers, Under the Hammer, America on Wheels and The Trouble with Medicine.
