Clip description

The Aboriginal dreaming was the creation of earth and humans. Forty thousand years of Indigenous continuous human society makes our history unique. A montage of the Australian landscape and Indigenous rock paintings is accompanied by a voice-over narration by Jack Thompson that explains the Dreamtime and European interpretations of this spiritual belief.

Curator’s notes

While the narration in this clip speaks about the clash between cultural perceptions, it is representative of the way in which Indigenous culture in A Shifting Dreaming is presented from a European perspective.
