A screen filled with water, red with the blood of the young Rosie. In voice-over, Rosie tells us she considered ending her life.

Curator’s notes

It would be difficult for most to imagine the alienation endured by Rosie and her sister Beverley. Then multiply that by thousands of Indigenous peoples whose stories, re-told in the Bringing Them Home report, speak of childhood trauma and adult dysfunction, or simply the need to understand what happened to them and why. Rosie speaks honestly and clearly about this experience, and in doing so, contributes to a greater understanding of government policies of the day.
