Wallenberg’s mission

This clip chosen to be PG

Clip description

Through historical footage, interviews and voice-over, this clip tells of the need to help save Hungarian Jews from the Nazis in 1944.

Curator’s notes

In 1944 Wallenberg accepted the difficult and dangerous mission of providing humanitarian assistance to the Jews as a member of the Swedish legation in Budapest. What is powerfully understated here are the most prescient moments in the film: the fateful beginning of Wallenberg’s mission ‘to stop Eichmann and the murder of the Jews’.
