This sequence shows dance performances by men, women and children, a large spinning toy game, string figure designs on Murray Island and a model boat regatta on Coconut Island.
Curator’s notes
The beginning of this sequence is clearly shot from a boat – most likely the boat Hurley is travelling on – as the camera moves uneasily up and down with the boat’s movement. The camera pans from the boat across to an island and huts along the shoreline in one shot, which helps set up a sense of authenticity to the sequence that follows.
