Clip description
An inhabitant of the Kiribati Islands speaks about the rough seas and the boat capsizing, losing everything but a plastic hat, a piece of rope and a stick. There are interviews, re-enactments and footage of huge seas and storms. Another islander talks about how they caught food after the boat capsized.
Curator’s notes
Not many people in the world could survive what these men went through in a boat not meant for long voyages. Their determination to live and bear such hardships is inspiring.
