Clip description

In this 1956 film Keith F Adams displays a funnel web spider and poisonous caterpillars on his hand as he says that they ‘should be considered highly dangerous’. Tiger, his fox terrier, digs up some mulga ants that sting him.

Curator’s notes

Keith F Adams demonstrates what not to do as he handles venomous insects. It imbues Adams with immortality as he fearlessly grapples with nature. Tiger, the fox terrier, is allowed to run and attack whatever he chooses. Here we see him limp back after being bitten, with a humorous musical accompaniment.
