The Last Husky (1993)

Husky dog teams have served on the Mawson Base in the Antarctic for fifty years. The documentary records the last dogs to be used there and their journey to a new home in Minnesota in the USA.

Curator’s notes

An engaging documentary that shows the dogs at work in the spectacular scenery of Antarctica. Emperor penguins are seen in their rookery. It’s a teary farewell from the Australians at the base. We see the huskies settle into their new home. The producer–director Chris Hilton’s credits include, Shadowplay, Year of the Dogs, Dust to Dust and Hell Has Harbour Views.
